Leica closes Las Vegas store
Leica Camera advised customers via email of the closure of its Las Vegas store. The company advised customers to seek out its Los Angeles flagship store or one of its dealers. Leica has seven company stores listed on its website in the United States.
Rangefinder says “WPPI 2021 ‘Packs a Punch’ ”
Rangefinder, the magazine of WPPI, provided an extensive overview of the WPPI 2021 conference. Jacqueline Tobin writes: “The WPPI 2021 show and conference wrapped up Wednesday night in Las Vegas with the annual Honors of Excellence Awards Ceremony and, according to photographer and WPPI speaker Jason Vinson, the weeklong event, “packed a major punch.” Normally held in February, WPPI moved this year due to concerns about the pandemic. When the show kicked off, it was the first time the WPPI community had come together in person since February 2020, and it felt good to reconnect.” WPPI 2022 will be held from Feb. 27 – March 3, 2022. Emerald Holdings is the parent company of WPPI.
SPOA to host Photography Training & Certification events
School Photographers of America is hosting two SPOA & National Association for Down Syndrome (NADS) PK-11 School Photographer Training and Certifications, Sept. 7, 2021, at 5:00 PM EST and Sept. 14, 2021, at 7 PM EST. The training is designed to educate and coach school photographers, photography managers and photography supervisors on the best practices for capturing smiles for this community. After completion of the course, attendees will receive an email with a Certified SPOA and NADS Certificate of completion. This certificate is valid for many CEU accreditation needs. Space is limited.
SPOA Women’s Leadership Advisory Council to hold leadership meetings
SPOA Women’s Leadership Advisory Council will host a five-part Women in Leadership Series this academic year to spotlight women of achievement in not just the school photography and yearbook industry, but women in educational leadership. SPOA will provide a platform for advice seekers to hear from female leaders of achievement and create advancement opportunities through programs designed to promote networking and learning. Photographers, managers, executives, entrepreneurs, or educators are welcome.
